Judges Needed For VA State Science Fair

The Virginia State Science & Engineering Fair (VSS&EF) will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Johnson Center of George Mason University, in Fairfax, Virginia. The Virginia Biotechnology Association (VaBIO) and the Chesapeake Bioscience Education Foundation (C-BEF) will be sponsors the annual awards for the biosciences.

Each year, VaBIO recruits volunteer judges from the membership to attend the VSS&EF to select the top three winners in the field of biosciences. The time commitment is limited to a pre-event online review of the submissions to select the finalists and then a few hours onsite at the Fair to interview and select the final winners. Lunch is provided to all judges by the Fair. The process is extremely easy and, by all accounts, very rewarding.

Judges include Dr. Matt Latimer of Latimer, Mayberry & Matthews IP Law, LLP; and Gary Fletcher of C-BEF.

Additional positions are still available as volunteer judges. Those members who would be willing to help reward and encourage these bright young students, are invited to join the team. The link to the science fair is: http://vssef.gmu.edu/

All potential volunteer judges are asked to contact Mark Herzog at VaBIO, 804-643-6360.
